And I don’t think there’s much more to it than that. I put this in the same category as watching elaborate domino displays. Fun, temporarily mesmerizing, completely shallow.

What about the glorification of the domestic through the act of transcribing an everyday, American kitchen scene into complicated (not to mention positively sparkling) bead work? And then further what it says about American consumerism to have the scene riddled with brand names like Tide and Comet?
Your ability to write off this piece of artwork inside of three scentences shows that you’re either rather dense or uncomfortable about your relationship with the domestic realm (i.e. doing the dishes). Though I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of both being true. Just because it doesn’t speak to you doesn’t mean you should relate it to your Friday night hobbies.
I am going to have to concur with the rather heady bordering on jaded commentary of the previous poster. Though not as angry about your flippant attitude towards Ms. Lou’s masterpiece, I must point out that there is an amount of social commentary which exudes from this piece of art.
To take the remarkably mundane task, sight of the kitchen sink and glorify it in such rich color and gleaming precision says so much about the ordinary tasks that the modern age takes for granted. The sheer beauty of running water, a sink full of dishes, reflecting a belly full of rich food, and the joy of having such conveniences at hand.
I could go on, but I think you get the point.
wow that is simply amazing. i love to build structures out of stain glass, but now i think i might try something a little more similar to this! thank you for the idea, amazing work!
